New Koenigsegg One:1 Ultra Supercar

First Published: 28/11/12

You know how the Koeniggsegg Agera R just isn’t quite fast enough? Yeah, right! Well if it isn’t, Sweden’s supercar maker is building a new model that certainly will be. Photos of the green Agera that have been floating around the net over the last week have been confirmed by Koenigsegg to be the new One:1 supercar. Christian Von Koenigsegg verified rumours after scans from a brochure were leaked online.
The odd choice of name becomes more apparent when you consider the power to weight ratio of the car: an astronomical 1bhp per kilogram! It is estimated to produce between 1250-1350bhp, easily topping the 1140bhp that the Agera R produces.
With that power-to-weight ratio, the new Koenigsegg should be able to beat the Bugatti Veyron’s 0-62 time of 2.5 seconds, and theoretically become the worlds fastest production car.
Unlike the recently spotted Agera S, the Koenigsegg One:1 is not just a one-off. Production is limited to just five units, all destined for the Chinese market. It will cost in the region of $2 million.
Christian von Koenigsegg has said the project is in its early stages with no date set for arrival.

Milan Abarth: Austria's First Supercar

When you think of a supercar, you’re probably thinking of something Italian.
Austria’s first supercar is now making its debut in Monaco. Ladies and gentlemen: The Milan Abarth. Austria’s first supercar certainly looks like it wants to make an impact, with the aerodynamic shape of a Le Mans prototype, and the looks of an Ultima GTR. The massive exhaust that spouts under the spoiler somewhat resembles a Batmobile.
A total of 14 cars will be produced, all completely bespoke. Whereas some car manufactures only offer the paint and interior trim on the options list, the Milan Abarth can be completely customized, including weight and power. The interior can be as plush or as Spartan as the owner desires. The car maker is probably expecting to finish most as the latter though- the prototype has an interior that makes a Ferrari F40 look luxurious.
Weight can be as low as 900 kg going up to 1100 kg, and power can be between 600 and 1700 bhp, depending on how courageous the customer feels.
Prices will start at €300,000.
This isn’t just a hopeful rookie, the Milan has a prominent backer. It will be powered by an engine designed by Abarth, who created the greatest racing Fiats of the 60’s and 70’s.
Karl Abarth’s son and project consultant for the brand, Raphael Abarth said: “This private, unofficial launch event could only take place in Monaco – the place to show any special car. Monaco is the city of the supercar in every way.”
Prospective buyers will be shown the car at different venues in Monaco city from the 22nd- 26th November, 2012. You can see the car at these locations:
Zest Bar, Port Hercule, 22, 23 and 24 November
Hotel de Paris, Monte-Carlo, 25 November, 2-4pm
Gerhards Café, 25 November, 5pm-8pm

Fast Five (Fast and Furious 5)

So i saw this film the day it came out in Uk cinemas and i have got to say i was impressed.
Having been a fan of the Fast and Furious franchise since the first film, i was wondering if the fifth installment would be worthy of the brand name, and honestly it is! The story line seems cliched at first (a group of people stealing millions of dollars from a high security safe? Come on... like i haven't heard that before!) but the storyline fits in perfectly with the other installments. You wont be disappointed with the ton of explosions, car crashes and gunfights, and the narrow misses (and often great hits) will keep you on the edge of your seat.

If you were a fan of the original cast, you'll be pleased to know they all group together in Rio to pull off 'One Last Job'. Ludachris (Tej), Tyrese Gibson (Ronan Pierce),Matt Schulze (Vince), and Sung Kang (Han Lue) who have all appeard in one of the movies all meet in fast five. The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) even makes a cameo as the chief antagonist to the group. You'll get a nice surprise if you stay past the ending credits too.

Fast Five is the latest film in the fast & furious series, and is also the longest. At over 2hrs long, i wondered whether it would start to drag on, but the film is really fast moving and action packed. The only bit which i thought was overly far fetched was the bit where Paul Walker and Vin Diesel drag a safe with two Dodge Chargers, with half of Rio police force in pursuit. Nonetheless, it was entertaining to watch them destroy half of Rio's road network.
All in all, its a great film which you must see if you are a fast and Furious fan.

9.5/10
